The village of Glen Ellyn is a wonderful place to both live and work. Both founders of Lifetime Xteriors, Glen Ellyn roofing contractors, lived here at one point. There is much to see and do when in Glen Ellyn. One of the best things to do if you are visiting for the first time is head to the downtown area. There are lots of fun little shops and restaurants to discover. The train station makes Glen Ellyn a commuter dream if working in downtown Chicago. The Illinois Prairie Path runs right through downtown Glen Ellyn so you will always see joggers and bikers on the path. Another place to visit is the Willowbrook Wildlife Center which is an animal sanctuary for injured animals and will help rehabilitate them back to health. You can see many local animals and learn about them, there are also beautiful nature paths here to walk as well. Across from the Willowbrook Wildlife Center is the College of Dupage. The College of Dupage was established in 1967 and provides an amazing education at a very affordable price. The college hosts some incredible shows at the McAninch Arts Center from world traveling acts similar to what you would see at The Chicago Theatre. You can see the full line up of shows here.
There are so many amazing restaurants in Glen Ellyn so we will only mention a few. One of those is a sushi house on the outskirts of town on Roosevelt Road called Kizuna Sushi Birstro. The sushi here is the best we have had in all of Chicago at an affordable price! The dining room is very small and it is always packed so you will want to get a reservation before going. Santa Fe Restaurant in downtown Glen Ellyn has some amazing Mexican food and delicious drinks.
One the roof replacement jobs we completed in Glen Ellyn was surrounded by good food. There was Giordano’s on one side of the building and Los Burritos on the other side of Roosevelt. It is hard to complete a roof replacement when you are smelling the good food all around you. The photo at the top of the page shows you this job we completed as Glen Ellyn roofing contractors. The photo is from Scheive Family Dental Care once everything was done. You can see what the roof originally looked like below this paragraph.
The owner of the dental office wanted a more traditional look for his roof and since the roof had a pitch greater than 2/12, shingles were installed. A 2/12 is the minimum pitch that you will want to install asphalt shingles. What is a 2/12 pitch? A 2/12 pitch means that for every 12 inches horizontally the roof drops 2 inches vertically. In order to convert the roof to shingles from a flat roof material, all of the decking had to be replaced. This meant that we had to remove the entire roof down to the wood framing and install all new plywood for the shingles to be nailed to. You can see a photo of the underlayment and ice and water shield we installed on this project below.
The two photos below this paragraph show how the roof looked before and after converting the roof. The silver flat roof material is perfect for true flat roofs where you cannot see it from the ground but the material is unappealing to look at from the ground like in this case. The curb appeal of Scheive Family Dental Care was greatly improved after replacing the roof. We highly recommend you use Scheive Family Dental Care for any dental needs as they have a better google rating than google! You can visit the Scheive Family Dental Care website here.
